• Buying A Baby Monitor? Here’s How To Do It!

These days, choosing a baby monitor can actually be quite difficult, and because of our technological advances, we no longer have just a few models to choose from. Since we have so many technological advances in our world today, we now have so many options available to us to choose from, such as the size, functions, features, and even style! There are multiple receiver varieties, wired into your home varieties, and even monitors that will offer you full video and audio surveillance of your child from another room. BUT, before you go ripping your hair out trying to choose one, all you need to do is take a deep breath and use these tips to help you figure out what you REALLY need.

Frequencies and channel range, what kind do you need?

Since other people may have devices near by which can pick up on the same frequency and interfere, you will want a device which offers a wide range of frequencies. The last thing you want ever, as a parent, is to be picking up the wrong signals and to be listening to someone else’s baby monitor or radio etc…instead of your own child’s, and that is why it’s important to consider this before buying your first system.

How much do you want to be able to keep an eye on when you are not in the room? Some systems just keep track of the sounds, while others may keep track of any movements in the room by alerting you. There are systems with full video and audio recording capabilities—kind of like the video surveillance that you’d see in a store. But it all depends on how much you want to be able to see and hear when you are not in the room. Also, you shouldn’t feel as though you are a bad parent if you choose not to opt for the full on video surveillance system, as there are many parents who feel that other more cost effective monitoring systems work just as efficiently.

This may not sound important, but it’s a great idea to have a system with a low-battery alarm. You’ll need to remember to return your receiver to its docking station or switch batteries because you don’t want your monitor to go out during the night. It’s a great time saver and will reduce worry. There are a lot of ways to choose which baby monitor is right for you and your family. You can simply focus on the features that are most important to you. You can ask people you trust for recommendations. Consumer groups can provide you with helpful independent reviews of monitors. You can do web research by reading the user reviews on large online sellers. Another tactic is to go to the store and compare the different products that are available. Whatever you decide, make sure you’ve thought it out as much as possible. Remember, you want something that can be trusted to protect your baby when you can’t see him or her! This is one case where you want to be sure you have something that can be trusted!
